“I strive to be empathetic, practical, effective and accountable while leading individuals and organizations to principled completion of their matters."
Calvin V. Boyd
Calvin likes the practice of law and connecting with people. Calvin routinely counsels and represents clients in negotiations and litigation stemming from contractual agreements, including commercial and residential real estate transactions, building code violations, business formation, business transactions and entertainment matters. He is a patient listener, a creative thinker, and a forceful advocate. As an entrepreneur, Calvin understands the critical nature of his clients' legal issues. This understanding allows him to quickly and effectively assess short- and long-term risks and counsel his clients accordingly.
As former vice president and general counsel for a federal government contracting firm, Calvin was afforded the opportunity to work as lead counsel on multiple international and domestic transactions, including real estate acquisitions and leasing, business entity formation and structuring, business licensing and government compliance matters.
Calvin's entertainment practice includes advising and counseling clients on trademark, copyright, licensing, miscellaneous contractual rights, rights of publicity, publishing rights, and branding issues.
Calvin is a member of Lawyer's for the Creative Arts and the Illinois State Bar Association. He actively mentors high school students who attend Urban Prep Academy (Englewood Campus).
